As many as 37% of all American adults have a potentially dangerous condition known as metabolic syndrome.
The syndrome places them at increased risk for heart disease and other health problems.
Researchers say that nearly half of all U.S. adults aged 60 years and older have the condition.
The syndrome is a cluster of conditions that includes hypertension, high blood sugar, excess body fat and abnormal cholesterol.
Collectively, these conditions increase a person’s risk for heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.
According to UPI, a 2015 study found that one in three American adults has metabolic syndrome.
