Newton created the reflecting telescope a year after his return to Cambridge in 1667, the same year he was elected a fellow of the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity. He received his MA degree in 1668 and remained at Trinity for another 20 years.
The Jewish Naturalisation Act 1753 was an Act of Parliament of Great Britain, which received royal assent on 7 July 1753 but was repealed in 1754 due to widespread opposition to its provisions. On July 7, 1865, four convicted conspirators - including boarding house owner Mary E. Surratt, Lewis Powell, David Herold and George Atzerodt - were hanged in the courtyard of what is now Fort Lesley J. McNair for their roles in the assassination of President Lincoln. The world’s first synthetic transplant was successfully completed by surgeons in Sweden. The operation took place in June when surgeons transplanted a completely synthetic trachea and covered it in the patient’s stem cells. The thirty-six year old patient was reportedly recovering well a month after the actual operation.
