LGBT rights activists covered the doors to the Embassy of Poland in central London with rainbow flags and signs on Saturday (July 18) following the reelection of President Andrzej Duda.
Duda has called the LGBT rights movement an "ideology" worse than communism and proposed an amendment to the constitution of Poland that would ban same-sex couples from adopting children.
A protester at the event said "every LGBT person comes from a family … every LGBTQ+ person wants to form a family in their own life", adding ‘LGBT-free zones’ in Poland were terrifying, making comparisons to fascism.
Poland’s main opposition party has called for the recent election to be declared invalid, accusing Duda’s party of breaking the law.
