Mongolia’s annual Naadam sporting festival got under way amid the coronavirus pandemic on July 11, 2020, at a ranch in the capital Ulan Bator. But the 800-year-old traditional event is taking place without the usual crowds, since Covid-19 restrictions prohibit most Mongolians from being able to watch the competitions in person.
