For almost two years, 26-year-old sound engineer Andrew Kan Hei-chun has been roaming around Hong Kong with a recorder as part of a project to collect a wide range of sounds from the city. Kan says his goal is to capture audio snapshots of urban as well as rural life. But he admits his favourite moments are while walking on the “wilder” side of Hong Kong, hiking mountainous areas where he is often surprised to find sounds of nature most people tend to ignore.
